with hsv2, how does one know if they are actively shedding without indicators that an outbreak is present?

You don't know: Hi Ash, You don't know if you are shedding virus. This is how people pass the HSV II without presence of lesions. If you have lesions you should reframe for sexual intercourse and always use a condom so that all STD transmission is prohibited.
