How much melatonin is safe to take? my prescription sleep pill is too strong but melatonin is too weak. i usually take 6mg. 170lb, 16, female.

Melatonin: does not work for everyone. 6 mg is the standard dose. You can try 9 mg for a few days. Let you psychiatrist know you are having insomnia. They may want to make an adjustment in your medication. Read about good sleep hygiene if you have not already done so.
