Pseudofolliculitis: Pseudofolliculitis barbae is also known as barbers's itch. What you describe here may or may not be consistent with this pseudofolliculitis. It usually occurs where curly hairs are plucked or shaven. These hairs then grow beneath the skin. This most often occurs on the chin or neck. The best prevention is to grow a beard or let the affected hair grow out. One can also pluck the hair out.
