Certainly: By your question, it's unclear if your lens has fallen out and needs to be replaced in your frames of if you need new lenses in your existing frames. Either way, your local optometrist should be able to help you with that.

Why don't physiology books show refraction at the anterior surface of the cornea?

1 doctor answer2 doctors weighed in
Dr. Joseph Barakeh
Ophthalmology 24 years experience
Too specific.: A general physiology book already has a lot to cover without delving into physiologic optics. If you want to dig deeper, check out general optics texts to understand basics like indices of refraction, followed by eye anatomy and physiology texts. The bscs series volume on cornea is helpful. Finally, texts about corneal topography, higher-order aberrations, and lasik would be fun. War eagle!

Why is it that some optometrists do refraction before retinoscopy and other objective tests?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Richard Bensinger
Ophthalmology 52 years experience
Normal pattern: It is the most common pattern to determine the basic eye power (need for glasses) prior to doing anything else to the eye which usually gets the best answer. Objective measurements of eye power are less accurate.
