A 36-year-old member asked:
Which type of doctor should i see to diagnose and treat my basal cell carcinoma?

Pathology 44 years experience
Your choice: A surgeon interested in this type of surgery, or a dermatologist who does this kind of thing, will be able to help you. Ask about your options. If it's someplace where you care about the cosmetic results, you can have special microsurgery.

A 47-year-old member asked:
I was just diagnosed with basal - cell carcinoma (skin, face). What type of doctor treats this disease?
1 doctor answer • 2 doctors weighed in
Plastic Surgery 19 years experience
Many different docs: Basal cell carcinoma is a very common skin cancer that does need to be treated but fortunately rarely becomes life threatening. Many different specialists would be comfortable treating this including plastic, head ; neck, and ENT surgeons as well as dermatologists. Depending on the subtype and location of your lesion, a dermatologist specializing in mohs surgery might be appropriate as well.
