Boil: with all of the new MRSA staph infections out there. You really should have a doctor look at this boil to make sure it does not need to be lanced and drained and an oral antibiotic needed

Don't: You risk infection by lancing a boil yourself. Have it treated by a medical processional.

How do I take care of a boil after it has popped and left behind a small hole?
1 doctor answer • 4 doctors weighed in

Dr. Michio Abe answered

Should heal: The small hole after popping a boil will heal itself. It may form a scar but it will heal. It's not advisable to pop a boil at home though.

A 39-year-old member asked:
About once a month, I get a boil. Is that ok or bad?

Dr. David Wishnew answered

Boil: Well, if the boil is in the same locale, there may be a foreign body that causes the body to react. If the location of the boil changes, then it may indicate that you have a skin colonization with a particular bacterial sub-type. See a dermatologist to get this checked out by a professional.
