will putting face over hot water in a pot eliviate fluid in eustachian tube and help it drain faster?

Steam therapy: Hot mist humidifiers,like that act you are trying to recreate with the hot water and towel over you head and pot, etc. may help or going into the Bathroom where the shower is on hot and you breath in the hot steam vapors, etc. Rx Nasal sprays will work much better if you can see the Dr. for an exam to assure that is what you need. Eustachian tube obst: I presume you know your Eustachian tube is obstructed. Do you know if you have allergies? Steam won't hurt, but it's unlikely to help a great deal also. If you are allergic, or arfen't sure, I'd suggest you try some antihistamine pills. A good and cheap choice is chlortrimeton, but it makes many people sleepy. Unlikely: You might be at risk of burning your face. A gentle saline solution placed in both nares may help. Also any Valsalva maneuver may help, such as blowing out your cheeks with mouth closed and swallowing or blowing into a blocked straw. Warm compresses along your lower jaw also may be helpful.
