3yr old has been having occasional leg pain in mainly one leg for over a year, calf area and knee no swelling or redness comes and goes walks normal?

Hard to say: There are several possibilities. Having them seen when they are symptomatic would probably be a good idea to establish the diagnosis. The good thing is that most of the serious conditions we would see in that age group would have steadily worsening pain and not pain that comes and goes, so it is fairly unlikely it is anything serious.
