A blood count: Presuming that this question is asking about how acute leukemia is diagnosed, a blood count is required.

Blood tests.: An abnormal CBC (complete blook count) is the usual clue that ANLL/AML is present. The diagnosis is confirmed by bone marrow biopsy and flow cytometry to identify chemical markers on the cancer cells. Prognosis is assessed by chromosome analysis and other DNA tests, usually done on bone marrow. This is always a serious illness, but some subtypes do a bit better.
