It's a genetic test (avaiable from athena laboratories, which detects the presence or absence of the tri-nucleotide expansion pathology on chromosome 4. Because this an autosomal dominant gene, on average, 50% of descendants will alsoanifest the disease because they received the gene from the affected parent.
