Yes and No: Cyst are filled with fluids. Tumors can be solid and cystic. there are Benign cysts, in the breasts and can be cyclical. Follow the Menstrual Cycle. Some times cysts are painless. If there is any lump you feel in your breasts it is best to get examined and et your MD's advise.

The most common: Symptom that distinguishes a malignant tumor from a benign tumor in terms of constitutional symptoms is weight loss. However that typically doesn't happen until disease is advanced in breast cancer. That's why doctors are so vigilant about investigating even probable benign tumors of the breast. The most important thing that determines success in treatment of breast cancer is early detection.

Lumps: Tumor is a nonspecific term for a growth which may be benign or malignant. Malignant tumors grow and often spread while benign tumors may grow but don't spread to distant tissues. A cyst is a fluid filled growth which is usually benign. Even benign breast tumors and cysts may cause pain and tenderness and may require surgery.
