i don't remember having contractions/braxton hicks during my first pregnancy so could that be what i am feeling? how would i know?

Braxton Hicks: Braxton Hicks contractions are mild cases of uterine contractions that can be felt by placing your hand on the abdomen and feeling tightening or firmness which comes and goes. You probably had them during your first pregnancy, but did not recognize them. Consider them a rehearsal by Mother Nature for the main concert which is labor.
