Accept it: Make sure pt. Has a diagnosis (like dementia). Once diagnosis is sure you have to avoid taking it personally when the patient does not recognize you or ask you the same thing often. Follow the flow, do not get angry with him. Try to ventilate your frustrations with a positive and productive way. Involve the whole family. Reserve some time for you personally to do thongs you use to love.

No worries.: 5 years is a long time to worry about that! most things people swallow do pass...And are often missed even when looking for them! chances are you did pass them. If they were stuck in some fashion, i would think you would have had some GI disturbances. You can ask your md if he/she thinks an xray would be helpful at this pint. Most of us would say no..Not after 5 years. Not to worry.

Forgetful Memory: If you are starting to forget things, no matter what your age, you should bring it up with your doctor. However, things you can do on your own to help this is simple memory, logic and puzzle games. Things that will stimulate the mind and make you think will help deter memory loss!
