Non viable pregnancy: In a viable pregnancy hcg concentrations typically double every 48 hours. If this is not the case, and if moreover hog concentrations start to drop again, then there is concern for an impending miscarriage. If more than one sac is seen in early pregnancy on ultrasound this can indicate that there is a twin pregnancy.
