Hip pain: Activity related pain can be from many causes. Specific to the hip, an x-ray would look for degenerative arthritis or other joint abnormalities (avascular necrosis, slipped capital epiphysis, etc). An MRI would look for soft tissue problems such as labral tear or OCD (osteochondral defect). Could be muscle-tendon overuse, hip bursitis, iliotibial band syndrome. A physical exam will be very helpful
