Hip pain: Activity related pain can be from many causes. Specific to the hip, an x-ray would look for degenerative arthritis or other joint abnormalities (avascular necrosis, slipped capital epiphysis, etc). An MRI would look for soft tissue problems such as labral tear or OCD (osteochondral defect). Could be muscle-tendon overuse, hip bursitis, iliotibial band syndrome. A physical exam will be very helpful

Not enough info with a simple on-line complaint can do justice to all the possibilities of problems that can cause hip pain. If it is bothersome enough, then a history, physical exam, and imaging by an orthopedic surgeon would be of great benefit
