Muscle strain: Yes. Very likely. Warm moist heat, stretching, and massage will help to relieve the pain. Add ice after the stretching exercises. Avoid high impact activities (running, tennis, volley ball) until the pain resolves.

Yes: A strain is when muscle fibers are torn. It can be mild or severe. The usual advice is to elevate and ice for 24-48 hours plus ace bandage compression and Tylenol, (acetaminophen) ibuprofen or Aleve for pain. If there is severe pain or inability to walk you should see a physician. An excellent patient pamphlet is found at the Following site: http://bit.ly/1rcsbpk

Possibly: They are of two types. The leiomyoma occurs in the skin or gut but the common form is the uterine fibroid. Rhabdomyomas are rare tumors of muscles, they occur in childhood and often become malignant assuming this is a uterine fibroid, if it were in the proper anatomic location it could cause vascular compromise, nerve compression, pelvic cramping or even a referred pain pattern.

Maybe, maybe not: If a person is "out of shape" due to not exercising recently, then getting some muscle aches or cramps with running or walking isn't bad. With stretching, massage, and a gradual increase in exercises, the symptoms should go away. If symptoms persist or are worrisome, a primary care doctor should evaluate to see if there is a disease or disorder that is causing the pains.

My right ankle is a little pain after running for 30 minutes. Should I stop running for a while?

Maybe...: We suggest rest, ice, elevation, compression and NSAID of choice. You don't necessarily have to stop, but you may need to back off some. If it worsens, you may have to stop and get it checked out.
