Tonsillar crypts: Your description sounds like tonsillar crypts. While the name is spooky, it's completely harmless.

Tonsilar stones: There are crypts in the tonsils where food and debris can collect and harden up to form tonsilar stones. Use warm salt water gargle to loosen these. This condition rarely causes any symptoms other than bad mouth odor but if it does, a visit to the Dentist or ENT will be helpful.
