IBS: In general, IBS is defined as a change in bowel habits, either diarrhea or constipation, or both, which lasts for longer than six months. There should be no signs of bleeding in the stool. If you have these symptoms, A good starting point is to increase the amount of fiber in your diet. If it helps, then no further medical follow-up is necessary. If it doesn't, see your doctor.
