A quiet room: Headache is some big problem to patients and to doctors. Laying down in bed in a quiet room may help, otherwise consult your doctor.

Headache: Your question is not specific enough for anyone to reply in a helpful way. There are many forms of headaches and there are many ways to relieve them. The best thing for you to do is to sit down with your doctor to discuss this issue. A thorough history, physical exam and appropriate ordering of tests would be necessary to give you a good enough answer.

Try these: Take a walk. Do some stretching or yoga. Share stresses/worries with a friend/counselor or in a journal. Use a stress-reducing breathing technique (not just a deep breathe--look it up to find out more or message me). Meditate or pray. Listen to a stress-reducing guided imagery audio (cd, mp3, etc). Get a massage. Consider acupuncture.

Relief of dilation: Migraine headaches are due to nerve excitation which can be triggered by hormones, certain foods, or stress. This results in a cascade of neurostransmitter release resulting in pulsatile dilation of blood vessels in the brain. A vasoconstrictor medication like the triptans or ergotamine can result in relief of the headache.

Depends on cause: Without a proper diagnosis, there's no way to know the cause or proper treatment. For simple, non-recurrent ha's, might try ice to head or neck, sleep, massage, meditation. A good hands-on osteopathic exam, whether pain is short-term or chronic, might find a mechanical cause - often from neck pain/dysf, rib problems, even sacral problems which can be treated with manipulation. Just some suggestions.
