A photo would help: Have you been out in the garden lately and been pricked by a thorn or touched poison ivy? It sounds like an allergic reaction however; we cannot rule out herpetic whitlow which gives the same symptoms burning pain tingling, sometimes swelling. You could have acquired it from another part of your body or someone elses. For now avoid sharing towels as it is contagious. See your doct for diagnosis.
