could high hb1ac and high ferritin be linked somehow in bloodwork?

Possibly : High hba1c indicates possible diabetes, depending upon how high. And ferritin is a lab for your iron storage. It's also an "acute phase reactant" meaning that it can be increased in patients who have any inflammation going on in the body. I would definitely follow up with your doc for more eval.
