Spasm of the --: --esophagus 2ndary 2 GERD can cause this as well as the back pzin, called referred pain. Get into C an UGI specialist 4 evaluation. In the meantime try an OTC antacid, liquid works faster than tablets.

Various causes: Causes include:Food or foreign body(although f.b.is more common in kids),GERD(gastro-esophageal reflux disease)w.or without esophagitis,growth outside esoph,muscles &nerves in throat not working right.Making online diagnosis,as you can see,is impossible.See your doctor for evaluation.Good luck for cure.

Dysphagia: If you feel that "something is stuck in your throat" and you also have upper back pain, you need to be evaluated by an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist. I would ask the ENT physician to perform rhinolaryngoscopy (can be done in the office) to make sure there are no masses or a foreign body stuck at the back of your nose or throat.
