is benadryl (diphenhydramine) a good anti-itch cream for mosquito bites? what other methods should i use to treat mosquito bites that itch badly?

No: hydrocortisone will work a little better, prescription steroid cream much better. A wet aspirin( not coated!) can be very effective.
