?GERD: See your doctor first before you assume it is gerd please, as heart problems may masquerade as gerd. You can do some natural things like medically supervised weight loss if overweight,no spicy foods, elevate head of bed, small meals, don,t lie down immediately after eating, loose clothing, manage stress and avoid NSAIDS. Your doctor may do additional tests as needed. All the best

Combination: Diet adjustment is key! Otherwise med's like Prilosec/Nexium are most effective in the long run. Zantac (ranitidine) and Pepcid help too. They are faster acting, but tend not be as effective for the long haul based off of the scientific data.

GERD: H2 blockers such as Pepcid are usually the quickest acting in which you will get the fastest relief. PPI's (Proton Pump Inhibitors), however are the most effective when used consistently. They may take several days to gain maximum effectiveness, however. Protonix (pantoprazole) is an example of a PPI.

Your doc can give: You something for it after he/she diagnoses it. You can also use dgl, available in the health food store. These capsules are licorice w/out an enzyme that raises blood pressure. They coat the lining of esophagus. Peace and good health.
