Stops replication: Truvada (emtricitabine and tenofovir) is a Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor. Reverse Transcriptase is an enzyle that that HIV takes command of to make copies of itself inside a cell. When this enzyme is not working, The HIV virus can't reproduce itself. If you want more detailed info GOOGLE "how does a Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor work". Best wishes!

HIV: Truvada (emtricitabine and tenofovir) is a combo drug that has Tenofovir and emtricitabine both of which are reverse transcriptase inhibitors - means they inhibit the enzyme "reverse transcriptase" in HIV virus by binding to it - Like a "kill switch". Reverse transcriptase build more HIV viruses in the body. The medication stops the virus from making more of itself. The image here shows where reverse transcriptase is.
