Stay on drug: You should contine Suboxone as long as necessary. If you stop you are likely to return to your previous dependency. Remember opioid dependency and addiction is inherrited. You cant change your DNA. Best of luck to you!

AS LONG AS IT TAKES: There is no set time for being on Suboxone. It really depends on how long you have been on opiates and what amount of opiates that you have been on. The best treatment is one that is personalized to you.
Dr. Moneil Patel
General Practice 17 years experience
No Set Time: There is no set time or duration for Suboxone. When you feel you are comfortable with weaning or tapering off suboxone have that discussion with your doctor. The recommendation is 10% reduction per week, which amounts to essentially one film per week reduction. It is a rather slow process, but it will minimize withdrawal effects, and the risk of relapse.
