I have been having sharp pains in my lower belly sorta of like cramps. but my period doesn't start til august 4th.

Hormones. : It could be due to hormones, this pain that you describe. Have you tried ibuprofen? 600 or 800 mg? If this pain comes to cyclically then you might want to consider talking to Dr. about taking hormones to help with the pain.

Dr Minich is right, it could be an infection. It could be your intestines and not your uterus, but that is usually accompanied by diarrhea or nausea. If you have multiple partners, could be an infection from an STD, but if you are in a monogamous relationship and not worried about STD, then unlikely a uterine or cervical infection. Could be Crohns. If worried or persists, see a doctor
