Salivary gland: The parotid glands are paired salivary glands. They are the biggest of the major salivary glands (others are submandibular glands and sublingual glands). The parotid gland is located below your ear, extends forward underneath the skin of your neck, and travels inferiorly to your neck.

Parotid glands: We all have three pairs of "major" salivary glands and numerous "minor" salivary glands. The parotids are the largest and are located in front of and below the ears in the cheeks. They produce saliva which aids in moisturization with chewing but also with the early phase of digestion. The other major glands are the submaxillary and sublingual glands.
