Would anyone know what could cause extreme neck pain followed by twitching, cramping, and numbness/tingling? doc says it's a strain and emg and mri both came back normal. still pain after a year. help

If tests are normal: It could be stress or malalignment. Have you Serb 1) therapeutic massage) 2) chiropractor ) 3)physisical therapist? If none of this has worked you might consider a counselor for discussing coping strategies for stress.

Neck pain: Normally a muscle strain resolves in 3 to 4 weeks. Perhaps something else is causing the ongoing pain. The imaging studies should be updated since they are a year old. See a neurosurgeon to evaluate the ongoing neck pain.
