can consumption of dairy contribute to or be the primary cause of acne persistence?

Possibly: Studies have shown associations between acne and dairy intake, but no causal relationship has been proven. Anecdotes that demonstrate people being helped by quitting dairy may or may not carry over to any other specific individual.
