Irritating...: That ingredient makes it a better detergent, perhaps, but also is irritating to skin, eyes. On the other hand, claims about its carcinogenic properties have not been substantiated. Companies are hyping their products as sulfate free to improve their sales. If lauryl sulfate based products are working for you and not causing irritation, I would not worry about that ingredient.
