BrighterLighter skin: Many people use over-the-counter moisturizers that contain sunscreen. Avoiding exposure to the sun will let skin lighten up. However, one should take extra vitamin D to make up for not getting vitamin D from the sun. Although having tanned skin from sun exposure is not a medical illness, there are a few uncommon hormonal medical conditions that can cause skin darkening.

See doctor : While there are many over the counter lotions that have some skin lightening properties, your best strategy to avoid trying a bunch of products that do not correct the dark spots and pigmentation from acne, is to see a specialist that has expertise in treating acne scarring and dark spots. Combination therapy with office treatments and targeted home regimen is often necessary for best results.
