Intertrigo: Intertrigo (intertriginous dermatitis) is an inflammatory condition of skin folds, induced or aggravated by heat, moisture, maceration, friction, and lack of air circulation. Intertrigo frequently is worsened or colonized by infection, which most commonly is candidal but also may be bacterial, fungal, or viral. Treatment is with prescription Vytone Cream.

If my 9-month old can sit but not crawl or walk, does she have cerebral palsy?

No: Not necessarily. It is important to discuss these developmental milestones with your pediatrician. Many children reach their developmental stages at different paces than the "average" baby and are perfectly normal. Also, some children have delayed motor skills due to other conditions (such as slightly weak muscles) that may get better with either time or special exercises (physical therapy).

No: While many symptoms a woman may feel could be associated with pregnancy (nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, etc.), I am not aware that a correlation exists that itchy eyes are an early sign of pregnancy.

How long will my newborns face rash last?

2-4 weeks: If the rash lasts longer than this, seems to be getting worse, or appears to be bothering your baby, she should be examined.

A good idea to see your Pediatrician. Sometimes the hormonal changes that occur during the newborn period may cause an acne like rash which can last 2--3 months.

A 39-year-old member asked:

Can I hurt myself or the baby from sleep walking while on ambien (zolpidem)?

Dr. Neeoo Chin

Yes: Ambien (zolpidem) is a pregnancy category c medication, which means to take during pregnancy only if the benefits out weigh the risks. Only the mother and ob/gyn can make that decision. Precautions need to be taken to protect the sleep walking mother such as locking doors to the outside and padding sharp furniture corners.
A member asked:

I frequently change my baby's diaper. Why is he still getting rashes on his groin?

2 doctor answers2 doctors weighed in
Dr. Lisa Roberts
Pediatrics 23 years experience
Could be yeast: If your baby has a persistent, red rash involving the skinfolds that does not improve with frequent diaper changes, or diaper rash cream, it could be a yeast infection. Yeast normally live on the body, but like to grow where the skin remains moist. If your baby is not having pain, your doctor may recommend an OTC anti-fungal cream. Another possibility is allergy to the diaper; try changing brands.
