A 27-year-old female asked:

doctors gave me percocet with tylenol (acetaminophen). however i can never fall asleep on them. they keep me up all night. what can i do to help me sleep at night.

Opiate insomnia: All Opiates can cause Insomnia. Percocet contains the very potent opiate Oxycodone, which is not intended for sleep. It is a pain killer. I tell my patients to not take any Opiates after 4-5 PM to prevent Insomnia. You should discuss this with your Doctor. I suggest avoiding medications that can be habit forming. All Opiates are potentially addictive. Many sleeping pills are addictive as well.
