what's the reason for women having to take prenatal vitamin before hsg ?

Dr. Michael Gabor
32 years experience Diagnostic Radiology
HSG: Most women attempting pregnancy are routinely put on prenatal vitamins to decrease the chance of birth defects. There is some evidence to suggest that fertility is increased for 2-3 months after an HSG, so it makes sense to start the vitamins beforehand.
