Fertility: No. That is not how nature works. Fertility is called ovulation. Sperm left in the vagina on the five days before ovulation are the sperm that will cause pregnancy. Ovulation is the release of the egg from the ovary and is the most important part of the menstrual cycle. Ovulation occurs on the other side of the cycle. Menstruation occurs when an egg has not been fertilized.

Younger : Younger women are more fertile. Women are most fertile from the time soon after their first period (age 11-13) through their early to mid twenties. Fertility then gradually decreases into the 30's and severely in the early 40's. There have been cases of women getting pregnant into the late 40's naturally. The most fertile time of the month is right after ovulation (when the egg is released from the woman's ovary). This occurs in the middle of the cycle, approximately 14-17 days after the last period. If pregnancy doesn't occur, then the next period occurs predictably ~2 weeks after leading to the average 23-28 day menstrual cycle.

1-2 days: One, maybe two days in a normal cycle. People think its longer because she might conceive from intercourse several days earlier than her 'fertile period.'.

One day: Literally, ovulation occurs at the moment that an oocyte (egg) is released from a woman's ovary. In a 28-day cycle this is close to the 14th day.
A 39-year-old member asked:

Hoping you can tell me, is woman most fertile straight after her period?

No: The optimal time for conception is 48 hours prior to and up to the day of ovulation. Therefore, start having intercourse a couple of days prior to when you actually ovulate and have intercourse every other day for a total of five times to help ensure sperm are there when you ovulate.
