Ostomy appliance: Sorry to hear this. There are ostomy/urostomy appliances that are special made to sit on challenging sites. Okay to ask your doc, urologist or call your ostomy supply outlet for advice. A consult with an ostomy nurse may be helpful. Be well.

Good nurse can help: Help your dad see a certified wound / ostomy nurse (CWON). They can help with different wafer and "filler" products to get the best fit possible. At 98 I am guessing that hernia repair is not an option, although more and more people are living that long and having surgery late in life. I am sorry he is having to go through this. Good luck!

No: Lasik is "safe" from the perspective of risks of harm to the mother or fetus but, "will the procedure be effective"? Pregnancy is associated with visual accuity changes related to fluid retention and corneal edema. Elective vision correction surgery is best done in a baseline non-pregnant condition to achieve long term good results. More than "what meets the eye" must be considered here.

Pain is subjective: Some people are very tolerant of pain from surgery and some are very pain sensitive. Some do great with pain control, some have a very difficult time getting a medication that controls their pain and does not make them nauseous. Most isolated mcl tears are not surgically repaired and heal with bracing. Pain associated with the repair really depends on the technique used on the repair.

Get moving!: Didn't get the whole question. You are at a great age to stop future problems. Being over weight and having a family history of diabetes definitely puts you at risk. Start getting into an exercise program and cut back on fried and fatty food. That should help get things back to normal.

Start following a Mediterranean Diet, cut out sweets and snacks, have your doctor to put you into a good weight loss program to help you to lose all your fat and keep it off. Do at least 300 minutes per week of physical activity including muscle strengthening. Drink 10 glasses of water per day and get 8 hours of sleep. Eat a good protein breakfast and eat some protein with each meal. Don't skip meals.
