Easy as 1-2-3.: Losing weight , simply stated, is a matter of calories in and calories out. If you burn more than you take in, then you will be fine. All other considerations are just putting a fine edge on it.

Must my child eat a balanced diet every day?

Good luck trying: The balanced diet is an adult idea, & a good one to practice for your lifetime. However it is a bit impractical when you deal with kids. Breast milk is balanced, but get past weaning & you must deal with a kid with his/her own ideas about eating. I like to look on kids from the vantage point of a balanced week rather than meal or day. Before school age their brain directs their cravings & does ok.

A 36-year-old male asked:

I eat healthy meals, take medicine, exercise 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes but my diabetes is not getting better than I want. Should I give it up?

NO !!: All those things are helping you stay stable and keeping you from getting worse. Consider chinese medicine and acupuncture to help you get balanced and possibly improve your diabetes slightly. Do not give up those healthy lifestyle habits!

My boyfriend & I are trying to get pregnant. I'm on Zoloft (sertraline) & my doc is having me get off it slowly; 1 pill every other day for a month & then 1 pill every 3rd day until gone. Does this sound reasonable?

Yes, it's great.: It's best to taper off the zoloft (sertraline) and your doctor has an excellent plan.

Exercise : Adding exercise and self control by reducing portion intake and eating the right foods while counting calories is best. Increase fruit and fiber intake if not eating enough. Take a yoga course or start swimming if not already. Good, low impact exercises. If considering surgical options, know that the best procedures and surgtons usually require that one starts losing weight first.
