Unlikely: An umbilical hernia is a common cause of a bulge at the belly button (umbilicus). While hernias can slowly enlarge over time, it is fairly uncommon to get a hernia incarceration or strangulation. Smaller hernias may have lower risk of getting "trapped" while larger hernias that may contain intestine could have a low risk of getting "trapped..".
