Seek help.: Depression is not just sadness and feels terrible. If you have done everything you can think of to help this please consult a psychologist or therapist to get other ideas on what is going on and how to effectively deal with your depression. It is smarter to get help than to live with depression which sucks the life out of a person.

It depends: It depends on how severe and frequent your symptoms are. If you have only mild, infrequent difficulties, things like exercise, meditation, and mindfulness practice might help somewhat. Picking up a consumer-oriented cognitive behavioral workbook, available at any large bookstore, could help as well. For longer standing and more severe problems, you should consult with a mental health professional.

Get treatment: If you haven't already, you need to get evaluated by a doctor. Let them know that you think you may have depression. They will do the rest. They will likely run some lab tests to rule out any medical causes of depression, such as a low thyroid. If it is depression, they can then make the appropriate recommendations for treatment. Get the help you need so you can start enjoying life again.
