Can you tell me how urea, a human waste product rehydrate the skin (in face creams)?

Water binding.: The protein urea simply increases the ability of water to bind with the skin. It is normally present in the skin, but some skin conditions are caused when the urea levels drop. Urea is synthetically made, thank goodness.
