what are some causes of a child's sudden cardiac death?

Genetic abnormality: Mutiple genetic defects may unfortunately lead to sudden death. The most common include long qt syndrome, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and brugada syndrome. Others are being identified all the time. Often there is a family history of premature sudden death. Some people have prior palpitations, dizziness, or syncope before the episode of sudden death. Genetic screening blood tests are available.

There are many: Although sudden cardiac death in children and adolescents is rare, there are many potential causes for sudden cardiac death in children. Some of the more common cardiac conditions associated with sudden death that may be detectable by electrocardiogram include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, long qt syndrome, and wolf-parkinson-white syndrome.
