Bone marrow cancer: White blood cells live and grow in the bone marrow and enter the blood stream where they travel throughout the body to fight infection. If these cells become cancerous, they grow out of control choking out the normal blood cells in the bone marrow and leaving the person vulnerable to infection, bleeding and anemia because there are not enough normal cells. All ages get AML but usually younger.
