Depends: Different surgeons give their patients different instructions on when they can shower after surgery. This will depend on the type of breast surgery you have (lumpectomy, mastectomy, reconstruction, etc.) and your surgeon's standards. The best thing to do is to check with your surgeon.

Breast Surgery 23 years experience
Ask your surgeon: Every surgeon has their own instructions. In general, the wound has one cell layer that seals the wound in 48 hours. If a waterproof dressing has been placed over the wound, then one can shower immediately.Keeping the wound clean is most important and good ole soap and water will do just fine. Call your surgeon to get specific instructions.

Depends: Ask your surgeon. This will depend on the type of breast surgery that you are having.

Ask Surgeon.: Much will depend on exactly what procedure is performed and the specific surgeon's preferences. Therefore, these types of questions are always best addressed to your surgeon who knows your situation and is responsible for your care. Best wishes.

Depends: Thanks for your question. If you do not have drains and the incisions look well healed you can shower in as little as 48 hours after most breast surgery. Please discuss with your surgeon.
