Type of reactions?: The term food allergy gets overused on a regular basis. For an allergy or intolerance the treatment is always the same. Avoidance. The best example of allergy vs intolerance is milk. Milk has protein (casein and whey),sugar (lactose) and fat. Only protein (with a few exceptions) can induce a true IgE mediated response. Stomach cramping, bloating etc can occur with intolerance to the other two.
