A 42-year-old member asked:
i wish i didn't start doxycycline course. does it stunt growth?

Probably no worries: Doxycycline is a very safe antibiotic with few side effects in adults and certainly does not "stunt growth". It should not be given to children before adult teeth emerge because of a possibility of tooth staining. Most likely the infection it was prescribed for is more dangerous than the drug. If in doubt, ask the doctor who prescribed it.

A 18-year-old member asked:
Does doxycycline have side effects?

Dr. Robert Kwokanswered

Occasionally: Doxycycline is a useful antibiotic, but as with all medications, there are possible side effects. Every drug or supplement has some small risks, so a user has to weigh the benefits against the small chance of an allergic reaction or some other problem. Doxycycline is often used to treat acne in teen boys. Users can sunburn more easily. "doxy" is not used in younger kids nor in pregnant women.
