Antibiotics, accutane: Antibiotics are often used to treat acne. Tetracycline, minocycline, dand Doxycycline have been used for decades in the treatment of acne. In resistant cases dermatologists will use other snitbiotics .If antibiotics fail accutane, a vitamin derivitative drug is used but must be carefully monitored to prevent birth defects and other potential side effects by a doctor registered to use accutane.

See below: I would start out with an over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide cleanser and cream for mild cases. For more severe cases, the first line of treatment would be a prescription for oral doxycycline.

Acne treatments: Stop nuts and peanut butter. Stop chocolate; cut down on dairy products. Wash with neutrogena acne wash and apply a bpo (benzoyl peroxide) cream or lotion -- something like clearasil -- on the affected areas at night. If it persists, see a dermatologist who may prescribe an oral antibiotic for you.

Probably: It helps a lot of prople, others it does not and needs to be changed to something else. Be patient. If you have no results after faithfully following dr advice for three months go back and rediscuss your management plan.
