A 47-year-old member asked:

Could a vitamin change a man's sexual orientation by correcting a hormone imbalance?

Of course not: Whatever your sexual orientation, it is Nature's gift to you. People can learn new behaviors and to enjoy many things, and this works in every way. But the basic stuff doesn't change. If a practitioner has told you that it's the result of a "hormone imbalance", report him/her to the board that supervises the profession. If someone's offer an "anti-gay vitamin", call your local prosecutor.

Sexuality: Sexuality, the very basis of how we seek to love and be loved, is not in any way determined by a hormone imbalance or by 'vitamins'. Sexuality is a very complicated and phenomenal gift of nature that makes being human all the more wonderful. Homosexuality, while not the common sexuality, is found in all sexual species in nature.
Dr. Amanda Itzkoff
Psychiatry 18 years experience
Homosexuality, a sexual orientation, does not require "correction", as it is not a medical illness. Vitamins will not change a persons sexual orientation. If you are having trouble accepting your sexual orientation or someone else's, consider psychotherapy.
