Depends: This is an interesting subject, but it really depends on the degree of aspiration and the condition of the person. Healthy people can aspirate and be fine. Even disabled people frequently aspirate but do not die, they may get aspiration pneumonia but it is treatable. You may be confusing aspiration (accidentally inhaling solid particles) with asphyxiation (being choked).
