No: This is certainly a difficult situation. Even when you don't have sores you can have virus present. The best thing would be for you to be on an antiviral, such as acyclovir, daily. This is the best way to avoid infecting your friend. Even a condom may not help as the virus can be present on areas of your genitals not covered by the condom. Talk to your doctor about the medication/prophylaxis.
